We're here to highlight 'in-real-life' experiences

Originally called “Muso”, we started in 2018 in a small, stuffy room in Melbourne, Australia with the mission of creating more live music in more places around the country. We spent about a year like this, made a lot of mistakes. The we brought on investors and some brilliant team members who each helped shape who we are today.

We weathered a few storms (including a slight 2-year pandemic) and grew significantly across Australia and New Zealand, hosting over 50,000 gigs in 900+ venues for 8,000+ artists. Many people joined us along the way from all walks of life.

At the start of 2023, Muso's mission changed from creating more live music to highlighting the importance of novel and exciting experiences. We broadened our scope from just live music to entertainment as a whole, including quiz nights, drag queens, dancers, comedians, and more. All of these groups of brilliant people deserved a solution to make their lives easier. We rebranded from Muso to Surreal to emphasise that we were about more than just music. In the future, we want going to live experiences to be seen as just as important as going to the gym. We want your mum to tell you that you need to get out of the house and go to a gig. We want them to be seen as essential.

To do that, we need to help create as many live experiences as possible. So, we’re building technology to make that easy.Ultimately, though, we don’t want to see a society full of people doom-scrolling on their phones or stuck in a never-ending marathon of streaming. Nobody wants that.

We’re on a mission to make sure that live beats digital, that we stay true to our human nature, and experience the world.
