As a person who was born in Los Angeles, lived in East Kansas, and calls Chicago home, Marqueal Jordan’s influences are just as eclectic and diverse. Inspired by his father’s record collection and John Coltrane in particular, Marqueal began playing Tenor Saxophone at age 12. His intent was to follow in the footsteps of the Jazz legend, but exposure to all genres of music and paying dues playing gigs of every style in Chicago altered his path. He also began singing professionally after moving to the Windy City, honing his skills as a frontman and complete performer. The result is a soulful, captivating style and presentation that he self-describes as “Grover Washington Jr. meets Maxwell.” Marqueal released his solo debut album "Catalyst" in 2013, followed by "Intention & Purpose" in 2019 and "All We Have Are Moments" in 2022. He has seen success on the Music Charts with three Top 20 Billboard Smooth Jazz Singles and one Single, “Dot Dot Dot (The Sequel)”, reaching #8 on the Urban Influencer R&B/Soul Chart. After meeting Brian Culbertson in 2008, Marqueal spent 11 years in his touring band. In addition, Marqueal has performed with legends such as: Gerald Albright, Patti Austin, Peabo Bryson, Jonathan Butler, El DeBarge, Will Downing, Floetry, Larry Graham, Buddy Guy, Lalah Hathaway, The Isley Brothers, Bob James, Joe, KRS-One, Kenny Lattimore, Maysa, Marcus Miller, Najee, Mike Phillips, Eric Roberson, Jill Scott, Isaiah Sharkey, Valerie Simpson, Sy Smith, and Kirk Whalum.
