Formed in Melbourne in 2005, The Prairie Oysters have spent more than two decades bringing their own brand of country, blues, honky-tonk and rock ’n’ roll to stages across Australia. Fronted by Tony Bonnici (bass & vocals), alongside Dave Miles (guitar & vocals), Mick Evans (drums) and Ed Bates (pedal steel), The Prairie Oysters have built a reputation for hard-driving live shows, sharp musicianship and a healthy dose of good humour. From pubs and clubs to major country festivals, including Tamworth, the Deni Ute Muster and the Gympie Muster, the band has shared its particular take on country music with audiences everywhere from Melbourne’s inner suburbs to regional Australia. With two albums already under their belt — Livin’ For The Weekend and THREE — The Prairie Oysters celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2025 and continue to write, record and perform new material. Their latest album, Rumours of Our Demise, arrives in 2026 — proving, as the title suggests, that reports of the band’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. Whether it’s classic country, greasy blues, honky-tonk, rock ’n’ roll or a song that simply demands to be played loud, The Prairie Oysters deliver it with attitude, authenticity and plenty of fun. The Prairie Oysters — 20+ years, still playing, still writing, still causing trouble.
