Robbie Amhaz is an accomplished Australian drummer and percussionist who began playing at 13, performing in his high school rock and brass bands and winning the 1988 District High School Pop/Rock Competition. Robbie later performed professionally in Sydney and graduated from the Australian Institute of Music in 1994, training under renowned session drummer Mitch Farmer. His early career included extensive involvement in gospel music, recording on numerous gospel albums while also working across the secular music industry. Based on the Sunshine Coast since 2007, Robbie has performed with some of Queensland’s finest musicians. His credits include Phil Emmanuel, Nicky Bomba, Andrea Kirwin, Lucy Gallant, David Spry, David Flower, Sunny Coast Rude Boys, Strange Tenants, IZALCO, Rock Stellar, IntaStella, The Janis Joplin Experience, Living in the 70s, Buckley’s Chance and the ABBA/Bee Gees Show. He has also shared stages with Floating Bridges, Bullhorn and Cheap Fakes. Festival and venue highlights include Blues on Broadbeach, Woodford Folk Festival, Pranafest, Mitchell Creek Rock N Blues Fest and The Triffid. Versatile across Rock, Pop, Funk, Disco, Reggae, Ska, Latin, Jazz, Country, Blues and Gospel, Robbie has recorded on numerous independent albums, including percussion for Dojo Cuts, whose music has achieved millions of Spotify streams. He has also recorded independent documentary soundtracks with O.J. Newcomb and Pauly Bromley at Yama Nui Recording Studios.
