Shy Ivy

Shy Ivy is an indie rock band from Victoria, Australia, formed by Daniel, Marius, and Sam. Daniel and Marius began working on a new project after their previous band, Volt Jolt, had parted ways. After discovering Sam through his drumming videos, the three got together for a jam, and together Shy Ivy was born. Each member came into music in their own way. Daniel grew up surrounded by music and started out playing along to bands like The All-American Rejects and Short Stack on a toy guitar before moving deeper into guitar and songwriting. Marius was encouraged into music from an early age and first started on guitar before shifting to bass, drawn to the way it holds a song together while still having its own character. Sam grew up in a musical household and found drums after being inspired by a friend who could play almost anything, eventually realising rhythm came naturally to him. The band pulls from a wide mix of influences, from acoustic driven songwriting like Coldplay, Goo Goo Dolls, and Tom Petty, through to classic rock, hardcore, fusion, progressive rock, pop, and heavier guitar music. Daniel’s love of Van Halen, Marius’ interest in bands like Black Flag and Weather Report, and Sam’s connection to Dream Theater all bring different sides to the band’s sound.
