Shahni Maxwell Music

For Shahni, music is generational. She found her voice early, singing beside her granddad from the time she could talk and learning to play guitar from her dad at 7 years old. Her love for music would be shaped by the timeless elegance of jazz and the soulful pull of R&B, a passion that took her to her first international jazz competition while in high school, laying the foundation for what would become a natural and undeniable presence on stage. In 2012, she made the move to Australia, and South East Queensland quickly became the backdrop for her musical career as an in-demand vocalist. Shahni’s sound is immediately recognisable: warm, sultry, and rooted in decades of jazz, soul, blues and R&B influence. Her voice has found a natural home across an ever-growing range of projects. In 2020, she launched her own business as one half of Ebb & Flow The Duo, performing for weddings, events and venues across QLD. Since then, her musical footprint has only expanded. She co-founded Tres Femme, a powerhouse female-led band, lends her voice to The Black & Blues Band, bringing soul and grit to the blues genre. As a member of James Alexander & The Solstice Band, she continues to push her artistry further and most recently joins The Generators, ready to turn up the heat and bring the funk.
