Kingsley’s grandfather was a trumpet player in the RAN band and gave Kingsley a drum kit on his 2nd birthday. Kingsley began his professional career playing drums in his high school music teachers wedding band. He later toured with many bands throughout Australia. In 2007, while walking on a footpath, a driver careered off the road, and hit Kingsley. Kingsley was bedridden for 3 months, doctors unsure if he would walk again, or drum? One day, he dragged himself out of his sick bed, sat at his piano, and began playing “Daniel” by Elton John. From that day on, Kingsley decided he would learn a song a day. 9 months later, after 3 operations and learning to walk again, Kingsley went on a cruise. He was fascinated with the Piano Bar and shared this story with the PBE. The PBE remarked, “You love cruising and you have enough songs… You could do this gig!” Thinking the suggestion was ridiculous, Kingsley slowly began to consider the possibility. 12 months later, Kingsley got his first contract with P&O. He never imagined that dragging himself out of bed that day would lead to being a PBE. He now has a repertoire of over 900 songs and has completed 5 contracts with P&O and Carnival. Kingsley currently performs 3 nights a week in and around the vibrant city of Melbourne. From humble beginnings as a drummer to a life changing accident, Kingsley is very grateful for the amazing opportunity he has to travel the world and perform as a PBE.
