Paul Medder

Hailing from New Zealand, Paul Medder is a vinyl lover with thirty years’ DJing experience. His sets mostly explore the intersections of house, garage, techno, disco, and boogie, though he also loves venturing into soul, funk, jazz, hip hop, Brazilian music, reggae, and the funkier edges of rock. Paul began DJing in the mid-90s, hosting electronic music shows on radio stations such as Contact 89FM and UFM (Hamilton) and George FM (Auckland). He held residencies at clubs in Auckland and Hamilton and worked as a house music buyer for Auckland hip-hop store Beat Merchants. The experience of living in London and Brazil between 2002-2019 expanded Paul’s musical references and introduced him to his greatest DJ influences: open-minded selectors like Theo Parrish, David Mancuso, and Gilles Peterson. Now living in Sydney, Paul has re-engaged with DJing, and has played at Bar Vespertine, Meadow Music Room and Deadwax. Paul is versatile and eclectic, able to switch styles to suit the occasion and audience. He prefers playing vinyl but can adapt to digital if required.
