Miko-shan moves as an eclectic selector, but the eclecticism has a spine: every strand she pulls from — disco, house, electro, dub — traces back to Black and queer dancefloors that turned survival into rhythm. She plays this music as a Japanese Australian woman on stolen land, aware that her access to this lineage — like her access to the land she stands on — was never hers to claim. A therapist in training, Miko-shan treats her sets and sound as conducting collective nervous systems — sliding a crowd through frequency and pressure until the body remembers something the mind forgot it knew: that dance music was built as liberation, by people who needed it to survive.
