Melbourne-based DJ Marilyn Matrix draws on a rich background and training in performing arts, as well as years immersed in Berlin's unparalleled club scene. Raised in the unconventional household of a visual artist and a writer/musician, music was the heartbeat of her upbringing. Marilyn trained for many years as a dancer and singer, and spent her teenage years writing and playing in a grunge band, experimenting with a range of instruments. This foundation fuels her ability to seamlessly blend diverse genres and deliver high-energy sets, all while deeply connecting with and responding to the crowd. Inspired by the 90s and early 00’s rave scene, Marilyn blends dark, driving, and hypnotic shades of electronic music. Rooted in techno, but not confined, she moves fluidly through garage, acid, house, electro, breaks, minimal, hardgroove. Favouring raw, gritty textures, rolling basslines, and percussive depth, Marilyn melts past, present, and underground into a sound that feels both timeless and untamed She has supported international artists such as Victor Ruiz, Oliver Huntemann, SLAM, Juliet Fox, Wehbba, Kolombo, Steve Bug, and Hannah Laing. Marilyn Matrix is a resident DJ & Managed by Eat the Beat. She can be found playing at renowned venues like Revolver Upstairs, New Guernica, One Six One, Storyville, Circus, My Aeon, Brown Alley, and Killing Time, to name a few.
