Malzof

Sweet Abyss resident Malzof has been DJing for over 11 years and their sound ranges from experimental ambient and groovy downtempo to many realms of house and techno - favoring the funky, silly, swinging and percussive sounds. A throughline exists in the way that they build energy, layer and collage, weaving a tapestry of psychedelia and chuggy momentum while storytelling. Malzof's sets are known to be very immersive, with dancers and listeners saying they "fell into a hole and felt transported during the set". Malzof leverages their creative vision and art practice into the ways they cast sounds and make the songs do a sonic dance together. They see DJing as an extension of all the work they do- to bring people together, to encourage moments of release and joy, and to support people in showing up in their true expressions as resistance against hegemony. Malzof loves to play in the super late night hours, where the dance gets the freakiest, as well as during the daytime and evening for spatious, fun and beautiful music to move your minds and bodies too. Malzof loves to play live sets on internet radio like The Lot Radio (NYC), Refuge Worldwide (Berlin), Mutant Radio (in both Tbilisi + Berlin), Radio Relativa (Madrid), Radio Alhara (Bethlehem), Great Circles (Philly), Lower Grand Radio (Oakland) and regional FM stations. Malzof is also a resident DJ at Mary's PGH, and has a bimonthly radio show on NARR Radio (Leeds, UK) called Jamming with Malzof.
