Karen Arango

Karen Arango is a Colombian classical guitarist and singer-songwriter. She has performed in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, the United States, Spain, and Australia. Always accompanied by a guitar, she writes and performs original songs that blend Colombian and Latin American musical traditions with contemporary sounds and textures. Inspired by everyday life, her lyrics explore themes of love, longing, transformation, and human connection. Karen holds a Master’s degree in Classical Guitar Performance from the University of Alicante (Spain), a Master’s degree in Twentieth-Century Latin American Music Performance from the National University of Cuyo (Argentina), and a Bachelor’s degree in Guitar Performance from the University of Antioquia (Colombia). She is currently based in Brisbane, Australia, where she is pursuing a PhD in Artistic Research at Griffith University. Alongside her solo career, she performs with flautist Jenna Choi as part of Liana Duo, a chamber ensemble for flute and guitar. She is also a member of Latin Waves Duo, a Latin American music project formed with guitarist and singer-songwriter Sergio Amaro. In addition, she performs with the Riverside Guitar Ensemble, continuing to explore collaborative chamber music experiences alongside her work as a singer-songwriter and solo guitarist.
