Joel Rapaport

Joel Rapaport is a versatile rapper, guitarist, and producer, known for his heartfelt songwriting, dynamic performances, and innovative contributions to the Australian music scene. A solo artist with three albums, two EPs, and numerous collaborations, Rapaport's work spans hip hop and jazz. His solo projects include Roadkill (2024), Village Idiot (2018), and Laughing on the Inside (2009), with EPs Dodo (2022) and Patterns (2014). He is a co-founder of Big Village Records, which launched careers for artists like Tuka and Omar Musa. Rapaport’s achievements include a 2017 FBi Radio SMAC Award nomination, winning the Triple J Unearthed NIDA competition in 2013, and creating the acclaimed hip-hop theatre show Sketch The Rhyme. He has performed widely, including sold-out shows at venues like Trocadero and Gasoline Pony, supporting acts such as Butterfingers and Thundamentals. His recent live performances include the 2024 Roadkill album launch and appearances at festivals such as Edinburgh Fringe and Woodford Folk Festival.
