Pete Mitchell Sax

Melbourne based Saxophonist (& guitarist) has been performing professionally with various bands around Australia & overseas for last 28 years. Plays vast variety of styles & loves fronting own jazz ensembles as much as being a sideman in other people's bands or improvising alongside DJs. Pete also tours & records with 2 time Aria award winning band Melbourne Ska Orchestra. Toured UK, Canada, New Zealand , USA & Turkey including performances at world famous festivals such as Glastonbury, Edinburgh & Montréal Jazz Festival with audiences of up to 60,000 people! (4 Aria Nominations & winner again in 2019) Other career highlights:guesting on occasion with John Butler & playing in Michael Buble's band at Logie awards. Performed once with Tina Arena. Toured with Aussie rock band Chocolate Starfish (Sax & Guitar) playing INXS Kick album in entirety. Toured with Starfish again in 2023 performing their electrified version of Meatloafs Bat Out Of Hell. Toured with them again in 2025 revisiting same project. Jammed with & performed for members of Buena Vista Social Club , had lesson with Branford Marsalis.Played an amazing gig when great late Aussie jazz legend Don Burrows sat in with Pete’s trio. Performed a set with Ross Wilson & BUSTAMENTO on lead guitar at a private celebrity event. He also loves performing on Sax & Guitar regularly with tribute band INXSIVE.
