From the moment he developed his popular style of ethnic comedy in 1985, George Kapiniaris became one of the pioneers of Ethnic Humour in this country. He has had an extensive career spanning 38 years and has entertained us with roles such as ‘DJ’ in The Flying Doctors, ‘Memo’ in Acropolis Now as well as a starring role in the hugely popular stage show 'Wogs Out Of Work'. He has also appeared in many films, theatre productions, the controversial mini-series 'Underbelly' and in 2004 he was nominated for a Green Room Award for his role of Stretch in the musical 'Oh, What a Night'. His calls his biography a ‘bi-wography’ and herein lies a valuable contribution to multi-cultural society. Along with a handful of other comedians in the 1980’s, he introduced the Australian audience to the concept of "wog humour" by taking offensive stereotypes, turning them inside-out and laughing at them. This generation transformed the term "wog" from an insult into an endearment.
