Carmine Romano

Born in Melbourne (Naarm), Carmine discovered his passion for DJing at 14, saving to buy records, turntables, and a mixer. He began playing at friends’ parties before breaking into the underground dance scene, landing his first club gig at Saratoga in 1996. A formative 1997 trip to Europe saw him digging for rare vinyl across London, shaping the deep, soulful sound that defines his sets. Back in Melbourne, he held residencies at Monkey, The Mansion, Redheads, Subway (after-hours), and Seven, while appearing at Tasty, Savage, Uranus, Dome, and Freakazoid. Known for blending deep house, tribal rhythms, soulful vocals, and disco edits, Carmine has commanded dance floors across all set times and room sizes. After attending the 1999 Miami Winter Music Conference, he built international connections and shared lineups with artists including Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, and Louie Vega. His eight-year residency at The Market Hotel became a cornerstone of Melbourne’s LGBTQ+ scene, drawing 1,500+ weekly and fostering a safe, inclusive dance floor. A graduate of RMIT (Sound Engineering), Carmine continues to perform across Melbourne and Sydney, playing vinyl and digital while producing, remixing, and evolving his sound.
