Before clubs or releases, it started with listening. Around 2007 to 2008, growing up with a Sony Walkman that barely left his side, Brownman’s Theory found electronic music through albums rather than moments. Roger Sanchez’s First Contact and Dave Seaman’s Therapy Sessions 4 were on constant repeat. Those records shaped an early understanding of patience, progression and mood. A lot of that influence came from family. A cousin, already DJing house music at the time, passed on more than CDs. He passed on the idea that music is about journeys, not shortcuts. That mindset carried into his first mix. Using Virtual DJ, he put together an eight minute blend of Dave Seaman, Roger Sanchez and Carl Cox and titled it Crescendo. A friend designed the artwork. It was not about perfection. It was about feel. Over time, that foundation deepened. Artists like Hot Since 82 played a big role in shaping how groove, space and restraint could work together. Sets were played wherever possible, mostly house parties and small gatherings, until a residency at The Mallow Hotel in Ballarat in 2022 gave the journey consistency. Today, Brownman’s Theory focuses on both DJing and production with the same approach that started it all. Late night energy. Long blends. Subtle tension. Music that takes its time and lets the dancefloor breathe. Much Love.
